Luxor

Luxor, often described as the world’s “greatest open-air museum,” is a city in Upper Egypt built on the site of ancient Thebes, the pharaonic capital during the height of its power. The city is uniquely divided by the Nile River into two distinct areas: the East Bank, where the living resided and monumental temples were built to the gods, and the West Bank, the “City of the Dead,” where pharaohs and nobles were buried in elaborate rock-cut tombs.
